Brazil is the world's most biologically diverse nation. Unfortunately wildlife management groups in Brazil face many challenges. Historically there has been a lack of enforcement of environmental laws but things are changing for the better. Many groups are getting involved in the conservation and protection of Brazil's wildlife. The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) began supporting wildlife research and conservation efforts in Brazil's Amazon basin with several field expeditions. The Brazil program expanded significantly in the early 1990s and now boasts the world's largest complex of tropical rainforest protected areas.
