My adventure in Antarctica was fabulous ... and Steve, you would have needed more storage cards for sure with all of the photographic opportunities! I hope you made it home safely and do keep in touch. Thanks also for the invite, you may see me in the UK in the not too distant future. I will add some more pictures and post soon!

Cheers, Danny

Sat, 24 Mar 2007 13:46:55 -0700 Danny Catt comment 235 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 Hello Brittney - answers to your questions http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/340#comment-211
Hi Brittney,

Thank you for your message and questions. I have seen some monkeys on my journey (Emperor Tamarin in Peru) and I was able to see the paw prints in Jaguar in the forests of Iguassu National Park in Argentina... but I have not seen any wild cats yet. There are though Puma here in South America as well (also known as the Cougar or Mountain Lion - the same species we have in British Columbia) . When I was in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, we saw the remains of a Guanaco that had been killed by a Puma. Good luck with your research on South America and if you have any specific questions I might be able to answer, please feel free to send them to me and I will do my best to get an answer to you. If you are keen to learn about birds in South America, both Peru and Colombia are amazing countries for birds.

Cheerios

Danny
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 13:25:19 -0700 Danny Catt comment 211 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 Dud - no stiches so far http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/340#comment-210
Hi there... so far I have been absolutely fine on my journey. No stitches, no broken bones. Thanks for your hello!

Danny
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 13:18:48 -0700 Danny Catt comment 210 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 Thanks Samuel http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/346#comment-209
Hi Samuel,

Thank you for your post on the blog. You are right that there are many ways to raise fish in pens, some are self-contained and do not pollute the water. With the continued increase in human population on the planet, we need to come up with ways to raise food that are clean and sustainable to feed all the hungry mouths the world over. Thanks for taking the time to submit your thoughts.

Cheers, Danny
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 13:15:14 -0700 Danny Catt comment 209 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 BC High School Global Connections Essay/Story Contest http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/346#comment-208
Hello Mike,

Thanks for your message. I hope some of the folks following the journey have taken the time to check out the Climate Friendly website. I am very pleased that Eagle Eye Tours in Edmonton have offered to make my journey 'Carbon Neutral' by doing exactly as you describe. Thanks again for your post.

Cheers, Danny
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 13:06:38 -0700 Danny Catt comment 207 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 Hello Gunna in Iceland http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/352#comment-206
Hello Gunna!

And thank you so much for your message (and I aplogize for my late reply). I am now in Argentina after a fabulous visit to Antarctica. We were able to get below the Antarctica Circle (66.5 degrees South) because the ice was more open this year than in previous years. As you say, things are changing the world over and in particular the ice in both the Arctic and in Antarctica. I hope your winter in Iceland has been a good one... and thank you for your message and words of support.

Danny
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 13:04:10 -0700 Danny Catt comment 206 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 Penguins - southern Chile http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/354#comment-205
Hello to the Coast Class!

I apologize for my delayed repsonse to your hello. I have recently returned from Antarctica and I am trying to catch up with posts and uploading photos etc. I am really pleased that you are following along and I hope you will enjoy some of the new penguin pics (from Antarctica) which will be up soon. At the colony in southern Chile (the pictures you are referring to) visitors are not permitted to get close to the penguins (there is a boardwalk and/or trail that you must stay on). There are also signs indicating that visitors must not disturb the penguins as they go about their routine (tromping across the beach and grass to feed and take care of their chick). The photos make it appear I was really close to them, but that is where a good telephoto lens helps immensely! Thanks again for your hello... and do send more questions if any come to mind.

Cheers

Danny
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 12:56:35 -0700 Danny Catt comment 205 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 Thanks Hannah http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/354#comment-204
Hello Hannah!

Thank you for your message. I will definitely do an internet search as you suggest to see more photos related to the Incas. I have just returned from a visit to Antarctica so I apologize for the delay in getting a message to you. I hope your project on the Incas was a great success (I assume you have it done by now). Keep posted as I will add more photos and post soon about my journey to Antarctica.

Cheers, Danny
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 12:50:53 -0700 Danny Catt comment 204 at http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2 Thanks http://blogs.bcit.ca/catttrax2/node/356#comment-203
Thank you for the good wishes.
