Report prepared by Meghan Stewart and Cassandra Kosterman, students in BCIT's Fish, Wildlife and Recreation Program.
Species common to Venezuela and British Columbia:
- Burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia). Its distribution range is fourteen million km2. There are burrowing owls in BC that winter in Venezuela. The Burrowing Owl collects mammal dung and puts it in and around its burrow. The dung attracts dung beetles, which the owl then captures and eats.
- The yellow warbler and acadian flycatcher
Canada and Venezuela produce similar resources including: iron ore, gold, diamonds, petroleum, natural gas, and hydropower in common.
