An important feature of the Amazon Basin is Angel Falls. At 914 m, it is the tallest waterfall in the world - taller even than the Empire State Building. The Amazon Basin is also home to the Amazon River which is the second largest river in the world after the Nile. Although the Amazon River is shorter than the Nile, it pumps out more water than its African cousin. Another significant feature of the Amazon Basin is the Amazon Rainforest which is extraordinarily rich in flora and fauna. Many species, such as tropical birds, are extracted from the Amazon Basin for use in zoos or as pets. The Amazon rainforest is estimated to provide the world with approximately twenty percent of its oxygen. The Rainforest is approximately 7,000,000 km2 in size.
