Report prepared by Johanna Paradis and Amanda White, students in BCIT’s Fish, Wildlife and Recreation Program.

Common pests in Bogota are black rats and rock doves. Bogota’s high altitude, however, prevents most other animals from co-existing — a far cry from Vancouver. Many birds that breed in British Columbia winter in Colombia (see Wildlife section). Trade between Canada and Colombia generates hundreds of millions of dollars annually (see Economy section).

International treaties signed by Colombia and Canada include:

  • Antarctic Treaty
  • Biodiversity
  • Climate Change
  • Climate Change-Kyoto Protocol
  • Desertification
  • Endangered Species
  • Hazardous Wastes
  • Ozone Layer Protection
  • Ship Pollution
  • Tropical Timber 83
